Pashubhumi

Pashubhumi (पशुभूमि) is a Kingdom mentioned in Mahabharata which was subjugated by Bhimasena. Some historians identify it with Pashupatinatha (Nepal). V S Agarwal identifies it with Girivraja (Magadha).

In Mahabharata

Pashubhumi (पशुभूमि) is in Mahabharata (II.27.8)

Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 27 mentions the countries subjugated by Bhimasena. Pashubhumi (पशुभूमि) is mentioned in Mahabharata (II.27.8).....Then the hero (Bhima) of great energy vanquished the Matsya and the powerful Malayas and the country called Pashubhumi that was without fear or oppression of any kind.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर ने लेख किया है ...पशुभूमि (AS, p.536): महाभारत सभा पर्व 30,9 में भीम की दिग्विजय यात्रा के प्रसंग में इस स्थान पर उनकी विजय का वर्णन है--अनधानभयांश्चैव पशुभूमिं च सर्वशः, निवृत्य च महाबाहुर्मदधारं महीधरम'. कई विद्वानों के मत में पशुभूमि पशुपतिनाथ (नेपाल) का पर्याय है किंतु वी एस अग्रवाल का मत है कि यह स्थान गिरिव्रज (मगध) के आसपास की चरागाह भूमि का नाम था. [p.537]: जैन आगमों के अनुसार 10 सहस्त्र गौओं चारण-भूमि को व्रज कहते थे और गिरिव्रज का नाम यहां विस्तृत चारगाहों की स्थिति के कारण ही हुआ था.
