Parave
Parave (परावे)[1][2] Paravey (परावेय)[3] Paraveya (परावेय) Praveya (प्रावेय) is a gotra of Jats found in Haryana.
Origin
- Paravata (पारावत): Paraves are said to have originated from Rigvedic tribe Paravata (पारावत).
- Parvatiyas (पार्वतीय): (meaning:Mountaineers) were ancient republic of Āyudhajīvī Sanghas known to Panini (IV.3.91) and mentioned in Mahabharata (VI.10.56),(VIII.30.79),(VIII.51.19). Alexander the Great advanced towards Media, and invading the land of the Paraetacae, he subdued it, and appointed Oxathres, son of Abulites, the former viceroy of Susa, to rule as viceroy. This tribe lived in the mountains between Media and Persis[4] It is probable that they are the ancestors of Parave, Paravey, Paravata etc Jat clans.

History
Bhim Singh Dahiya[5] writes....Paravey: They are to be identified with the ancient people called Paravatas. In the Rig Veda they are shown as giving gift of horses.[6] They were a people living on the Yamuna river.[7] Vedic Index describes Pārāvata as a tribe. Vāmana Purana mentions a country called Pārāvata in the north of Kumāra Dvipa.[8] The present Paravey clan is similarly situated on Yamuna river and the name alone is sufficient to point to the identity.
In Rigveda
Bhim Singh Dahiya[9] writes... It will be noted that right from the Rig Vedic times, the historical clans are today represented among the Jats. For example, the Arya, Hari, Sibi, Mana, Sindhu, Parave (Paravat), Bheda, etc., are thus existing even today. According to Bhim Singh Dahiya [10] Parave is the Paravata tribe of Rigveda:
- (25) Paravata : (RV. VIII/34/18), mentions them going in their chariots. They are identified with Paroda/Parota clan of the Jats. Also recorded in RV 3/9/5; 6/61/3 etc. Ptolemy mentions them as Parouetal (6/50/1). Panca Vamsa Br.places them on the river Yamuna (lX/4/11).[11]
In Mahabharata
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 59 gives Genealogy of Danavas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, Yakshas, Rakshasas, Nagas....Prava's daughters and sons were known as Praveya (प्रावेय) - Anavadya Manu, Vansa, Asura, Marganapria, Anupa, Subhaga, Vasi, were the daughters brought forth by Pradha, Siddha, and Purna, and Varhin, and Purnayus of great fame, Brahmacharin, Ratiguna, and Suparna who was the seventh; Viswavasu, Bhanu, and Suchandra who was the tenth, were also the sons of Prava.
