Origin
Jat Gotras
- Rathi gotra is said to be originated from the province named Ratha (राठ), a republic of Ratha (राठ) Chandravanshi Kshatriyas in South Gujarat and Rajasthan. [2] They are Chandravanshi Kshatriyas.
- Rathor gotra is said to be originated from province named Ratha (राठ). They were Chandravanshi but now call themselves Suryavanshi.[3]
History
Rajim Stone Inscription of Prithvideva II - Kalachuri Year 896 (=1145 AD) mentions Ratha in Verse-13. ....(V. 13) In the interest of the kingdom of his lord, the illustrious Jajalladeva (I), (fought) Jagapala (जगपाल) who was to his foes what the scent-elephant is (to ordinary elephants), and who by his heroic deeds acquired the Tamanala (तमनाल) country together with Râtha (राठ) and Tera (तेर) (?)[4]
