Shivji Ram Saharan

Subedar Shivji Ram Saharan (born 1880-) was freedom fighter from village Dalman in Sardarshahr thsil of Churu district in Rajasthan. He is also known by the name Shyoji Ram Saran. He served in the Indian Army and fought First World War.

He joined Shekhawati farmers movement and participated in Jat Prajapati Mahayagya at Sikar in 1934

His personality

Subedar Shivji Ram was a man of strong personality. He was of height of 6 feet and 6 Inch. It is said that once he had thrown a camel over dhulkot.

Folksinger

He was punished by the Bikaner Maharaja Ganga Singh for his act of collecting revenue from the camel holders without knowledge of the state. In the Bikaner prison he developed two dhamal folk songs:

1. झीणी झीणी रे राठोड़ो थारी बोतलां रा रंग झीणा

2. गहरो तपियो रे राज गंगा सिंह रो

These dhamal folk songs are sung at the time of holi. Maharaja Ganga Singh was very much pleased and he pardoned him for his acts and released from the prison. He also advised him to join defence forces so he got recruited in the Indian Army.

His family

He was born in the family of Shera Ram s/o Baryam. Shivji Ram had 3 sons Suryadeo, Mangla Ram and .... He had one daughter - Sugna who was reputed social worker and was married to Nain family in Ranasar Bikan (Sardarshahr). Sugna's son was Hari Ram who was killed by jagirdars. Hari Ram's sons are Sahi Ram and Puran Mal. Sahi Ram is advocate in Sardarshahr.

Shivji Ram Saharan had two brothers 1. Rawat Ram and 2. Ishwar Ram

Rawat Ram is living in Dalman village and is a progressive family. Rawat Ram had 3 sons: 1.Megha Ram 2. Balu Ram and 3. Nanu Ram.

Megha Ram's son is in service at ADM Office Churu as steno. Balu Ram's son Sarwan has son Gori Shankar who is very talented and was in merit of Senior Secondary School. Gori Shankar Saran got selected in IIT Bombay.

Ishwar Ram begot three daughters.

रियासती भारत के जाट जन सेवक (1949) पुस्तक में ठाकुर देशराज द्वारा सूबेदार शिवजीराम सहारण का विवरण पृष्ठ 140-141 पर प्रकाशित किया गया है।

ठाकुर देशराज^[1] ने लिखा है ....सूबेदार शिवजीराम - [पृ.140]: खेद है कि सूबेदार शिवजीराम आज हमारे बीच में नहीं है परंतु स्मृति अभी ताजा है। उन्होंने आज से 10 साल पहले अबोहर के दीपक में अबोहर पर ही एक लेख लिखा था जिसमें उन्होंने एक नई जानकारी इतिहासकार को यह दी थी कि अबोहर अभयसिंह भाटी का स्थापित किया हुआ है। और

[पृ.141]:यह नाम अभयगढ़ का अपभ्रंश है। इतिहास से उन्हें प्रेम था। अक्खासर उनकी जन्मभूमि थी। कौमी शिक्षा के मामले में अपने नेक कमाई में से दान करने में कभी नहीं चूकते थे। आपका गोत्र सारण था।
