Vindhyachal

Vindhyachal (विंध्याचल) is a town in Mirzapur District of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. The city is a Hindu pilgrimage site having the temple of Vindhyavasini. It is located on the banks of Ganges.

History
Vindhyavasini, according to Markandeya Purana, had incarnated to kill the demon Mahishasura. The detailed description has been given in 'Durga Saptashati' Chapter of Markandeya Purana. The river Ganga flows through this city. The Indian Standard Time (IST) line passes through the Vindhyachal railway station.

[1] Pujaripali (पुजारीपली) is village in Sarangarh tahsil in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...विंध्याचल (AS, p.849) उत्तर प्रदेश के मिर्जापुर ज़िले में स्थित धार्मिक दृष्टिकोण से प्रसिद्ध शहर है। यह स्थान विंध्यवासिनी देवी के प्राचीन मन्दिर के लिए उल्लेखनीय है।
मार्कण्डेय पुराण के अनुसार, माँ विन्ध्यवासिनी ने महिषासुर का वध करने के लिए अवतार लिया था। यह नगर गंगा के किनारे स्थित है। भारतीय मानक समय (IST) की रेखा विन्ध्याचल के रेलवे स्टेशन से होकर जाती है।[3]
