Bhaniyana

Bhaniyana (भणियाणा) is a Jat village, mainly of Godara gotra, in Pokaran tehsil of Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan situated at a distance of 110 km from Jaisalmer on Pokran-Barmer road.
History
It has distinction of being the biggest village with Jat population in Jaisalmer district. It was founded after Pandava Bhima. Myth is that the biggest pond in the district situated near Devi mata temple was built by Bhima. Its population is 774.
Jat Gotras
Bhaniyana has habitation of 1500 families out of which 1000 families are of Jat Gotras. The biggest gotra is that of Godaras. Other Jat gotras are Saran, Jakhar, Siyag, Lol, Dudhwal, Jyani, Karwasra, Lega, Khot, Delu, Sau, Dhaka, Sanyee, Bairad, Dudi and Bhadu.
Notable persons
- Chaudhari Kharta Ram Jakhar - Over 80 years of age, of this village, has been the Sarpanch of the village since Independence. He is a freedom fighter and a devoted social worker that has contributed maximum for the wealth of the village. Looking to his devotion and social services he was awarded ‘Jat Sri’ title in the Pushkar Jat Sammelan.
