Chhaprauli (छपरौली) is a small town in Bagpat district in Uttar Pradesh. It is also a tahsil under Bagpat district.

Chhaprauli Constituency

Chhaprauli is famous for being remained the Constituency of late Chaudhary Charan Singh who fought from this assembly from 1967 to 1974 and won three elections.[1]

History

Dr. Girish Chandra Dwivedi [3] has mentioned in his book The Jats - Their Role in the Mughal Empire about historical records maintained by Khaps. A Sarva Khap Panchayat was held here in samvat 1718.

Jahangir sometimes showed the top Jat leaders the unique favour of calling them to his audience and giving Khilats. [4] But Aurangzeb reversed this policy. He “restricted the activities” of their customary institutions. This along with his religious fanaticism, created concern among the Jats. They discussed this issue in a meeting at Chhaprauli (1718 V.S) and decided to protest against the new laws and pleaded for the reversion of the policy of the Delhi court. [5], [6]

Chhaprauli Khap

Chhaprauli khap has 24 villages in Uttar Pradesh in Baghpat district. It is known as chaubisi. Jat gotra - Tomar and other clans. [7]

छपरौली खाप

20. छपरौली खाप - उत्तर प्रदेश के जनपद बागपत में छपरौली कस्बे के आसपास इस खाप के 24 गांव हैं. इस खाप को चौबीसी भी कहते हैं. इस खाप में तोमर जाटों के साथ साथ अन्य कई गोत्र के गांव की आते हैं. छपरौली क्षेत्र से ही चौधरी चरण सिंह राजनीति में आए और अंततः प्रधानमंत्री पद तक पहुंचे.[8]

  • राधा खोखर - छपरौली कस्बे की राधा खोखर ने चौधरी चरण सिंह यूनिवर्सिटी मेरठ को टॉप कर गोल्डन गर्ल का खिताब हासिल किया जनपद बागपत और खासकर छपरौली क्षेत्र हमेशा दौड़ पहलवान शिक्षा के रूप में जाना जाता है.
