Origin
There was a famous republic called Kather (काठेड़), the people of that republic were called Katheria (कठेरिया) or Katheria (काठेरिया). [4]
History
Katehar (कटेहर) was name of Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh during medieval period.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[5] ने लेख किया है ...कटेहर (AS, p.127) रुहेलखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश का मध्ययुगीन नाम था जो इस इलाके में 11वीं शती में राज्य करने वाले कटेहरिया राजपूतों के कारण पड़ा था।
