Raja Pratap Singh was ruler of Wair, Bharatpur. He was younger brother of Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur. [1]

History
Girish Chandra Dwivedi[2] mentions....It is said that Badan Singh also removed from his way Chhatar Singh, who had been "the right hand" of Churaman.[3] Sometime early in 1730 Suraj Mal crushed the Sikarwar and Gujar miscreants of Bayana and Rupbas. He demolished their fortresses and established his authority over the region. This was formally handed over to Badan Singh on a promise to pay an annual tribute and then the construction of the fort at Wair was taken up. This place was given as a jagir to Pratap Singh.[4]
Once he became the undisputed strongman in his home, Badan Singh set himself to expanding his possessions and authority, following the general practice of the age.[5] Apart from his own commendable resourcefulness and uncanny wisdom, three other factors that facilitated his bid, were the lethargy and growing imbecility of the Mughals, the good will and patronage of Jai Singh and the invaluable services of Suraj Mal as also of Pratap Singh.[6]
Girish Chandra Dwivedi[7] mentions....Right from the early seventeen thirties, Suraj Mal helped his father, who seems to have been an loving person. Shortly after, his younger brother, Pratap Singh also became helper.[8]
ठाकुर देशराज
ठाकुर देशराज[9] ने लिखा है ....ठाकुर गजेंद्रसिंह - [पृ.18]: भरतपुर के संस्थापक वीरवर महाराजा सूरजमल जी के छोटे भाई का नाम राजा प्रतापसिंह था। उन्होंने राज्य की दक्षिणी पश्चिमी सीमा पर वेर में अपने लिए एक सुंदर किला बनाया था जो आज भी उनके पौरुष की साक्षी देता है। उन्हीं के वंशजों में ठाकुर गजेंद्र सिंह हैं। अब से चार पांच साल तक आप वेर वाले राजा जी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध थे और सरकारी कागजातों में भी राजाजी ही लिखे जाते थे। अब राजा जी का खिताब तो नहीं रहा किंतु आम जनता आज भी उन्हें राजा
[पृ.19]: ही कहती है। आपके पिता राजा समुंद्रसिंह जी के चार पुत्र थे जिनमें आपसे बड़े बृजेंद्र सिंह जी और दो छोटे नरेंद्रसिंह और सुरेंद्रसिंह हैं। सार्वजनिक जीवन में ठाकुर गजेंद्रसिंह जी स्वर्गीय महाराज श्रीकृष्ण सिंह जी के समय से दिलचस्पी लेने लगे हैं। जब से भी भरतपूर राज्य जाट सभा की स्थापना हुई है आप उसके प्रमुखों में रहे हैं। अखिल भारतीय जाटमहासभा के आप उपप्रधान रह चुके हैं।
मैं उनके संपर्क में सन् 1942 से हूं। वह परिश्रमी और समय को पहचानने वाले आदमी है। एक सरदार परिवार में जन्म लेकर भी आपने राजा महेंद्र प्रताप जी द्वारा संस्थापित प्रेम महाविद्यालय में दस्तकारी का प्रशिक्षण लिया है। आप चित्रकला में भी प्रवीण हैं। सबके साथ मिलकर चलने की उनकी नीति है। इरादा कर लेने पर भी वे कड़वी बात नहीं कर सकते हैं। यह उनका सबसे बड़ा गुण है।
उनके दो संताने हैं। एक पुत्री और एक पुत्र। पुत्र का नाम भूपेंद्रसिंह है। सन 1942 में भरतपुर में जो शानदार जाट महोत्सव स्थानीय जाट सभा का हुआ था यह आपके अधिक परिश्रम का फल था।
