Sangar (संगड़) (Sengarh,Sengar) Sangar (सांगर)[1] Sangad (सांगड़) [2][3] is a Jat clan found in Afghanistan.[4] They are branch of Gathwala Malik. James Tod places it in the list of Thirty Six Royal Races.[5]

Origin

History

Hukum Singh Panwar (Pauria) writes:[6] The Jat tribes[7] Sigroa or Sigroha bear unmistakable identity With the so-called Rigvedic non-Aryan people named Sigru of the east. other Jat tribes[8] closely resemble several other Rigedic Aryan tribes. Among such Jat tribes are Singala or Singla or Singar or Sangar;

जगमनपुर बुंदेलखंड

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[9] ने लेख किया है ...जगमनपुर बुंदेलखंड में स्थित सेंगर सिंगरोहा जाटो की राजधानी थी। सेंगरों की उत्पत्ति दशरथ की कन्या शांताश्रंगी ऋषि से मानी जाती है। 1134 ई. में जगमनपुर के राजा वत्सराज सेंगर थे। वत्सराज सेंगर का 1134 ई. का ही एक दानपात्र बनारस, उत्तर प्रदेश से प्राप्त हुआ है। सेंगर वंश के राजा कर्ण ने यमुना नदी के तट पर कर्णावती नामक एक ग्राम बसाया था, जो बाद में 'कनार' कहलाया। पहले इस वंश के राजा कनार में ही रहते थे। कनार में प्राचीन क़िले के ध्वंसावशेष अभी तक हैं। इसके दर्शन करने के लिए जगमनपुर के राजा दशहरे के दिन आते थे।
