Col Virendra Singh Bhalothia (born:04.03.1954) is from Village Dhani Bhalothia, district Mahendragarh, Haryana. He is eldest son of freedom fighter Mahashay Dharampal Singh Bhalothia.

Life of Col V S Bhalothia
Colonel V S Bhalothia, SM, VSM, son of s freedom fighter late Shri Dharmpal Singh Bhalothia is a veteran who hung up his Olive Green uniform in the year 2009 after an eventful & glorious stint with the Indian Army for more than 30 years. While in army, he saw actions both in India & abroad & was the recipient of a number of gallantry awards for showing the courage in the face of the enemy.
He also took part in peace keeping missions, firstly in Sri Lanka as part of Indian Peace Keeping Force there & later on as a UN combatant for United Nations Operations in Somalia for which he was awarded a Peace Medal by the United Nations
One of the notable achievements of his carrier came in Kargil war, when as a Battalion Commander of an Infantry Unit; he was tasked to throw out Pakistani intruders from the Battalic Sector in Kargil. While doing so, he displayed exemplary leadership & bravery in the face of the enemy, resulting in victory for India. The official citation of his act of bravery speaks volumes of his outstanding performance there. For his heroic actions, he was promoted in the war zone itself by the then Chief of Army Staff Gen Malik. His gallant actions were covered in both in the electronic & print media of the country as also in the Bollywood movies & National TV channels. A large number of books written on Kargil war covered his exploits in details. For the gallantry shown by him in the face of the enemy in Kargil war & later on for his distinguished services in fighting the Pakistani Militants in Kashmir Valley, he was awarded Sena Medal (Gallantry) & Vishisht Seva Medal respectively by the President of India.
Practicing the Vedantic way of life: All the countries in the world except perhaps the Vatican City have standing Armies to safeguard their frontiers. Since times immemorial innumerable wars have been fought resulting in huge loss of men & material. Even today large amount of money & resource is being spent on the ongoing arms race in the world. This money could have rather been gainfully used for alleviating the sufferings of the humanity all over the world. None of these armed conflicts have ever been able to restore peace. In fact the world is witnessing much more unrest than ever before & therefore the solution lies in the path as shown by our spiritual gurus. If by practicing the Vedantic way of life, the enemy within is killed there would not be any enemy outside. Therefore post retirement from army, he along with his wife who was a teacher by profession till then, switched over to full time professional Yoga Teaching & since then both of them have been visiting various yoga teaching Institutions /Ashrams in the country to update themselves in the Vedantic & Yogic ways of life.

कर्नल वीरेन्द्र सिंह भालोठिया महाशय धर्मपाल सिंह भालोठिया के बड़े पुत्र हैं। आपने आपरेशन विजय (कारगिल युद्ध), आपरेशन पवन (श्री लंका), आपरेशन मेघदूत (सियाचीन ग्लेशियर), संक्युतराष्ट्र संघ आपरेशन (सोमालिया), आपरेशन रक्षक (काश्मीर घाटी), में दुश्मनों के छक्के छुडा़ने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी। इनके वीरतापूर्ण कार्यों के लिए राष्ट्रपति द्वारा शूरवीरता पुरस्कार 1. सेना मेडल (वीरता) एवं 2. विशिष्ट सेवा मेडल से सम्मानित किया गया।

शिक्षा
आपकी प्राथमिक शिक्षा गुरुकुल कांगड़ी (हरिद्वार) एवं माध्यमिक शिक्षा ग्रामोत्थान विद्यापीठ संगरिया (हनुमानगढ़) में हुई | आपने बी.एससी. तोदी कॉलेज लक्ष्मणगढ़ एवं एम.एससी. (केमिस्ट्री) लोहिया कॉलेज चुरू से करने के बाद वर्ष 1979 मे भारतीय सेना में कमीशन प्राप्त किया |
लड़ी गई महत्वपूर्ण लड़ाईयां
आपके द्वारा लड़ी गई महत्वपूर्ण लड़ाईयां निम्न प्रकार हैं:-
1. आपरेशन विजय : कारगिल युद्ध 1999 में आपने बड़ी सूझ बूझ से बटालिक क्षेत्र में आपकी बटालियन 12 जम्मू कश्मीर लाइट इन्फेंट्री ने बर्फ से ढकी महत्वपूर्ण ऊँची चोटियों पर सुरक्षित बैठे दुश्मनों को मार गिराया एवं तिरंगा फहरा दिया। इस आपरेशन में बटालियन के दो अफसर एक जे.सी.ओ. व बीस जवान शहीद हो गये एवं बीस जवान घायल हो गये | इस वीरतापूर्ण कार्य के लिये युद्धस्थल पर ही थलसेनाध्यक्ष जनरल वी. पी. मलिक ने ले. कर्नल भालोठिया को पदोन्नत कर कर्नल का रैंक प्रदान किया। इस शूरवीरता के लिये कर्नल भालोठिया को भारत के राष्ट्रपति द्वारा सेना मैडल (वीरता) पुरस्कार से नवाजा गया।
2. आपरेशन रक्षक 2006: कश्मीर घाटी में पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों के छक्के छुड़ाने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी फलस्वरूप आपको राष्ट्रपति द्वारा विशिष्ट सेवा मैडल से सम्मानित किया गया।
3. आपरेशन पवन 1988-89: श्री लंका शांति सेना में लिट्टे के खिलाफ भूमिगत माइन्स बिछे अनजान क्षेत्र एवं बारूद के ढेर पर लड़ाई लड़ी जिसमें आपरेशन पवन मैडल एवं विदेश सेवा मैडल से सम्मानित किया गया।
4. संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ सेना 1993-94: सोमालिया, (द.अफ्रीका) में शांति बहाली के लिये संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की तरफ से लड़ाई लड़ी एवं इस आपरेशन में यूनाइटेड नेशन्स पीस कीपींग मैडल मिला।
5. आपरेशन मेघदूत 1998: सियाचिन ग्लेशियर में बर्फ से ढकी ऊँची कठिन चोटियों पर पाकिस्तानी सेना के 6 हमलों को नाकाम कर दिया। इस आपरेशन की सफलता पर आपरेशन मेघदूत मैडल एवं हाईअल्टीटूड मैडल से सम्मानित किया गया। इस आपरेशन का अनुभव कारगिल युद्ध में भी काम आया।
आप अन्त में वर्ष 2009 में पायनियरकोर सेंटर बंगलोर के सेंटर कमान्डेंट पद से रिटायर हो चुके हैं। सेवानिवृति के बाद आपने एवं आपकी पत्नी श्रीमती संतोष ने शिवानन्द योगा वेदांता आश्रम त्रिवेन्द्रम (केरल) से मास्टर ऑफ़ योगा की डिग्री प्राप्त की। अब आप देश एवं विदेशों में योग शिक्षा के प्रचार प्रसार में लगे हुये हैं। आपकी पुत्री डा. स्वेता चिकित्सक है एवं पुत्र पार्थ साफ्टवेयर इंजिनियर है।
