Andha (अंध) was a Nagavanshi King in Mahabharata period in the lineage of (Dhritrashtra).

Andari (अंदाडी) gotra Jats live in Jaipur district in Rajasthan are descendants of Nagavanshi Raja Andha (अंध) in the lineage of (Dhritrashtra). [1]

History

H.A. Rose[2] writes about Chhimbas: Territorially the Hindu Chhimbas have various divisions, e.g., in Sialkot they are divided into the Lahori and Dogra sub-castes, which are said not to intermarry and which have separate gots. In Amritsar too is found a Lahori group, which is also called Chhapagar or Nawandhi.

The Lahori got a are : — 1. Pharwain. 2. Bagri. 3. Takhtar. 4. Ded.

The Dogra gots are :— 1. Karaku. 2. Panotra. 3. Dowathia. 4. Andh. 5. Rihania. 6. Pabe. 7. Saragra. 8. Bagri. 9. Chebhe. 10. Bhumral. 11. Tanotra.

Jat History

Ram Sarup Joon [3] writes that Adrayan or Adhrayan, Andha or Adhlayan gotra is very old. A ruler belonging to this dynasty took part in the Mahabharat. In Vishnu Puran there is reference to 176 rulers of this dynasty. Their capital was Jhirka Kalan. A rock edict of this dynasty has also been found, which tells us how Bindusara conquered the Andhra Kings.

अंध नदी

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[4] ने लेख किया है ...अंध (AS, p.5) श्रीमद्भागवत में उल्लिखित एक नदी.... 'नर्मदा चर्मणवती सिंधुरन्ध्रशोणश्च' (5,19,18). सिंधु, यमुना की सहायक सिंध है और शोण वर्तमान सोन. इन्हीं के समीप बहने वाली किसी नदी का नाम अंध हो सकता है. संभव है, यह वर्तमान केन या शुक्तिमती ही का नाम हो. इसका संबंध अंधक से भी हो सकता है जो श्री डे के अनुसार भागलपुर के निकट गंगा में गिरने वाली चंदन नदी है.

Andha (अन्ध) (Naga) is mentioned in Mahabharata (V.101.16)/(V.103),

Udyoga Parva/Mahabharata Book V Chapter 101 describes Bhogavati city and innumerable Nagas dwelling there. Andha (अन्ध) (Naga) is mentioned in Mahabharata (V.101.16).[5]....Virajas, Dharana, Subahu, Mukhara, Jaya, Badhira, Andha, Vikunda, Virasa, and Surasa.
