Basatia
Basatia (बसातिया) Basati (बसाती)[1] [2] Vasati (वसाति) Basatiya (बसातिया) is gotra of Jats found in Haryana and Punjab.
Origin
- Vasati (वसाति) [3] [4]is a Jat Gotra of Nagavanshi origin found in Haryana. Its variants are Basati (बसाति)/Basatia (बसातिया) due to linguistic changes.
- They were dwelling in republic known as Vasati (वसाति) in Mahabharata period. [5] They were with Kauravas in Mahabharata war on Day one and two.

Mention by Pliny
Pliny[6] mentions Mesopotamia ....Beyond these are the Silici, surnamed Classitæ, through whose district runs the river Lycus on its passage from Armenia, the Absithris10 running south-east, the town of Accobis, and then in the plains the towns of Diospage, Polytelia11, Stratonice, and Anthermis.12

According to Isidorus of Charax, it lay between Edessa and the Euphrates. Its site does not appear to have been any further identified. It is called Anthemusia in B. v. c. 21.

History
The Mahabharata Tribe - Vasatis (वसाति) figure in the tribute list Mahabharata (II.48.14). They sided with the Kauravas (VI.47.14, VI. 18.12) and came from the Mula pass in Baluchistan or somewhere in Makran.
H.A. Rose[7] writes that Basati (बसाती), Basatia (बसातिया) are pedlar ; a petty merchant in Punjab.
