Chahil
Chahil (चाहिल)[1] is gotra of Jats in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. [2] Same as Chahal (चाहल).
Origin
This gotra started after Chola rulers. [3]
Distribution
The population of Chahil Jats is 64,500 in Patiala district. This clan owns many villages around the town of Bhikkhi as well as it holds several scattered villages in the sub-districts of Fategarh, Narwana, Bhawanigarh, Amargarh. [4]
Chahil population in Amritsar district is 13,527. This clan owns 16 villages near the Sheron Bagha village. [5]
In Ludhiana district the Chahil population is 13,614.[6]
According to B S Dhillon the population of Chahilh clan in Jalandhar district is 2,700.[7]
In Hoshiarpur district the Chahil population is 750. [8] In Gurdaspur district the Chahil population is 6,645. [9] In Firozpur district the Chahil population is 6,300. [10]
