Gandevra or Gandevda or Gandewara (गन्देवड़ा) is a village in tehsil Shamli of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. Its earlier name was Aurangabad. It is a well connected village. It is situated at a distance of 130 km from Delhi.

Jat Gotras

Population

The village has a population of about about 250 families. Jats are only having 20 families. It is a Jat village of mainly Kuhad gotra Jats. Other castes include 100 houses of SC, 30 houses of ST, 40 houses of Muslims in the village.

History

The village is about 950 years old. Sahab Singh Kuhad from Sonipat Haryana came to this place and settled the village. This village has contributed to the freedom movement of India. The revolutionaries used to take shelter here.
