Godhe (गोधे) Godara (गोदारा) gotra Jats are found in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh.

Origin

Godhe are said to be descendants of King of Kashmir Gonanda/Gonarda (गोनर्द) .

In Mahabharata

Anusasana Parva/Book XIII Chapter 4 gives ancestry and family tree of Viswamitra, a Kshatriya, but the founder of a race of Brahmanas. Shloka 46 writes about Godhe -

विश्वामित्रं चाजनयद गॊधेर भार्या यशस्विनी

ऋषेः परभावाद राजेन्द्र बरह्मर्षिं बरह्मवादिनम Mahabharata (XIII.4.46), (XIII.4),

It is variant of word Gadhi which is used for a King Gadhi son of Kushika.

If we believe Hukum Singh Panwar (Pauria) this refers to the Ur dynasty, a section of the Kusas or Kusikas, who belonged and ruled over Ur, Nuppur and Sus in Mesopotamia.

Godhe Pal

Godhe Khap , founded in Mugal period, has 100 villages in Uttar Pradesh around Mathura. Jat gotra is Godhe and other clans.

13. गोधे पाल - यह खाप भी मुगल काल में अस्तित्व में आई. मथुरा के आसपास पाल में विभिन्न गोत्रों के करीब 100 गांव शामिल हैं.

गोधा जाटवंश

दलीप सिंह अहलावत के अनुसार भाषाभेद से गोधा शब्द, योद्धा शब्द का अपभ्रंश है (|द्वितीय अध्याय जाट्स दी ऐनशन्ट रूलर्ज पृ० 6, लेखक बी० एस० दहिया)। यह जाटवंश है। भीष्मपर्व अध्याय 9 के अनुसार भारतवर्ष के जनपदों में यह गोधा जनपद भी था। वास्तव में यह यौधेय जनपद था। महाराज युधिष्ठिर के राजसूय यज्ञ में यौधेय राजकुमार बहुत धन लाये थे। द्रोणपर्व के अनुसार यौधेय सैनिक कौरव पक्ष में होकर महाभारत युद्ध में लड़े थे। यौधेय जाटवंश का निर्माण तथा राज्य वैदिककाल से है। इसका वर्णन तृतीय अध्याय में किया गया है।
