Isharwal (ईशरवाल) Ishrwa (ईशरवा) Ishrawan (ईशरावां) Isarwal (ईसरवाल) is a gotra of Jats in Rajasthan and Haryana. They were supporters of Bhati Confederacy. [1] [2] [3]
History
Bhim Singh Dahiya [4] gives a table showing the alleged Rajput descent of the Jat clans. Isharwal Jat clan is shown as descended from Bhatti clan. He explains that the above chart has been taken from Tribes and Castes Vol. II, p. 375. This supposed Rajput ancestry is patently incorrect. Many clans had hoary history before the name "Rajput" was adopted in the tenth century A.D. or later, as an ethnic name, due to social and religious differences. Those sections of the Jats who were formally converted to Brahmanism and consequently practised widow burning, instead of widow remarriage, were styled "Rajputs". It will also be seen that a majority of the Rajputs, at least their important clans, are of a later arrival from Central Asia, whereas the Jat clans were in India even in the Vedic period.

According to H.A. Rose[5] Jat clans derived from Bhatti are: Lahar, Sara, Bharon, Makar, Mond, Kohar, Saharan, Isharwal, Khetalan, Jatai, Khodma, Bloda, Batho and Dhokia.[6]

- Ganga Ram Isharwal (Bishnoi): Shaurya Chakra, from village Cherai (Isharwalon Ki Dhani) in Osian tahsil of Jodhpur district, Rajasthan lost his life for the protection of deer on 12 August 2000. For his act of bravery and love for wildlife he was awarded with Shaurya Chakra (posthumous), Shahid Amrita Devi Bishnoi Awards of National and state levels, Paryavaran Mitra and other many awards.
