Katlupur village

Katlupur (कतलुपुर) is a Jat village in Kharkhauda tehsil in Sonipat district of Haryana. The village situated at 28°50'33"N and 77°1'49"E on the outskirts of Haryana i.e. it is the frontier village of Sonepat District on the southern side. It shares it’s borders with Lampur, Bankner and Ghoga (all Delhi villages) on the eastern side, Bawana (Delhi) and Dariyapur (Delhi), Hareveli (Delhi) and Jhinjoli (Har) on western side and Nahri on Nortehrn (Haryana) side.

History

Katlupur was founded / established in samvat 1226 (1170 AD) by Sh. Surajmal and his brother, in the name of their Dadi (Grandmother) Katlodevi. She was of Bawana village and the land for Katlupur was provided by Bawana village. Katlupur was uprooted 04 times from this location but the villagers managed to come back on all 04 occasions. It is also a common folklore that the present Devi of Gurgaon was originally from Katlupur.

Connectivity

Katlupur has only one approach road from Nahri, via which it is connected well with Delhi and Haryana

Population

The Katlupur village has population of 2102 of which 1123 are males while 979 are females as per Population Census 2011. Katlupur village has higher literacy rate compared to Haryana. In 2011, literacy rate of Katlupur village was 87.83 % compared to 75.55 % of Haryana.[2]

Occupation

Proximity to Western Yamuna canal resulted in fertile land of this village. Most of the resident villagers are engaged in agriculture. However many people from this village have started business and gained employment in Delhi and other places of India as well as abroad.

  • Dr Hari Singh Lohchab - Retired Deputy Director (Veterinary Department - Govt. of Haryana)
  • Choudhary Karan Singh Lohchab - Ex DEO, A very well known personality in British India.
  • Major Ajay Lochab s/o sh. Mahavir singh (senior municipal inspector, MCD Delhi. Ajay got commissioned as lieutenant into Indian Army in 2008. He completed his graduation from University of Delhi.
  • Manu Lochab DCP (Deputy commandant of police) BSF - s/o Sh. Sukhvir Singh. Manu joined BSF in 2012 as ACP (Assistant Commandant of Police). He did his B.Tech and M.tech from I.P university, Dwarka (Delhi).
