Lehal (लेहल) Lahel (लहेल)[1] Lahail (लहैल) [2] Lahil (लाहिल)/Lahal (लाहल)[3] (Lehel, Lail, Lehl, Lel) is a Hindu/Sikh/Muslim Jat clan found in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, India and Pakistan.[4],[5] The Lehal are mostly Sikhs and Muslims in east Punjab and Hindu Jats in the Haryana state of India.

History

Some feel that they are related to the chieftain Lahl (Lahil). Warrior fought against romans alongside porus.

They are found in village phaphrana in Assandh Karnal district of Haryana.

They are found in the Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ferozpur and Patiala districts of east Punjab.

  • Dr. Gurpreet Singh Lehal - He is professor at Punjabi University Patiala. He is the one who created Software to type Punjabi language on the Computers. He also developed a Software to Convert English to Punjabi and Urdu to Punjabi and vice versa. He is living in Patiala Punjab India.[6],[7],[8]
  • A.S. Lehal - He is the famous Golf Player of India. He is living in Chandigarh.[9],[10],[11]
  • Mandeep Lehal - He grew up in a small village in Punjab India but now living in California US. He is a Video Director cum Producer. He has been traveling and learning from real life experiences, which inspires his photography, direction and production skills.[12],[13],[14]
