PeerKhera (पीरखेडा) is a small village situated around 8 km west of Shamli, 1.5 km off the Shamli-Karnal highway. The village falls under the Batisa khap. The village adjacent to it is Laprana, which happens to be the native village of cricketer Praveen Kumar.

The PeerKhera village has the population of 1620 (of which 859 are males while 761 are females) as per Population Census 2011.[1]

History

इस गांव में श्री श्री 1008 गुरु महाराज गोपाल गिरी जी (बिराल वाले) का विशेष आशीर्वाद है। वे सभी ग्रामीणों के गुरु थे। हर व्यक्ति रोजाना अपने घर में उसकी पूजा करता है।.

Despite in Muzaffernagar riots , in Peerkheda, the village seniors ensured that the 200 Muslims among the 2,200 residents were safe.

And the examples of compassion and humanity did not end with the Hindu population as many Muslims too showed exemplary courage and doused the fires of communal rage that threatened to engulf the long-standing harmony in the area.
