Ramdeora (रामदेवरा), also called Runicha, is a village in Pokaran tehsil of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan.

History

James Tod writes that Three coss to the north of Pokaran is the village of Ramdeora, so named from a shrine to Ramdeo, one of the Paladins of the desert, and which attracts people from all quarters to the Mela, or fair, held in the rainy month of Bhadon.¹ Merchants from Karachi-bandar, Tatta, Multan, Shikarpur, and Cutch here exchange the produce of various countries : horses, camels, and oxen used also to be reared in great numbers, but the famine of 1813, and anarchy ever since Raja Man's accession, added to the interminable feuds between the Bhattis and Rathors, have checked all this desirable intercourse, which occasionally made the very heart of the desert a scene of joy and activity.

From the history of Bidyasar gotra we know that they are the descendants of king Bidya Datta (बिद्यादत्त) who ruled over Ujjain during 9th century. It is said that the ruling family of Mysore state is "Vadyar" by gotra and are the descendant of king Bidya Datta.

In Rajasthan, they first came to Runicha (Jaisalmer) and then to Rarod (Tah. Bhopalgarh in Jodhpur) and Rataoo (Tahsil- Ladnu in Nagaur) in 12th century and occupied the position of village Chaudhary. His son Kanwsi, a great devotee of "Goddess Dadhimati" of Goth Mangalod later on changed the name of Dhasunda to Khiyala. Bidyasar Choudhary of Khiyala used to collect land revenue on behalf of Delhi throne for three decades , before Jodhpur state was carved out.

बाबा रामदेव

बाबा रामदेव का जन्म जैसलमेर जिले के पोकरण के पास रूणीचा गाँव में हुआ था. इनका जन्म काल संवत १४०९ से १४६२ के मध्य माना जाता है. इनके पिता तंवर क्षेत्रीय थे. उनका नाम अजमाल था. माता का नाम मैणादे था. रामदेवजी ने बाल्यावस्था में ही सातलमेर में तांत्रिक भैरव का वध कर उसका आतंक समाप्त किया था. उनका विवाह अमर कोट के सोढा राजपूत दले सिंह की पुत्री नेतलदे के साथ हुआ. राम देव सब मनुष्यों को बराबर मानते थे तथा मूर्ती पूजा और तीर्थ यात्रा को व्यर्थ मानते थे. उन्होंने मुसलमान बन गए हिन्दुओं का शुद्धि का काम आरम्भ किया था. वे जाति प्रथा का विरोध करते थे. राम देव जी ने कामडिया पंथ आरम्भ किया जिसमें उच्च और अछूत जातियों के सदस्य सम्मिलित हुए . उनकी समाधी राम देवरा गाँव में है. यहाँ प्रति वर्ष भादवा के शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वितीया को मेला लगता है. राम देव जी के पगलिये गाँव-गाँव में पूजे जाते हैं. बीकानेर तथा जैसलमेर जिलों में राम देव जी की फड़ बांची जाती है. इनके भक्त तेरह ताली नृत्य करते हैं.
