Sumitra Singh (सुमित्रा सिंह ) (born 1930) (Gotra= Silotia) is proud to be the first woman Assembly Speaker in Rajasthan. She was unanimously elected Speaker of the 12th Rajasthan Assembly. She is a senior Jat leader from the Shekhawati belt in Rajasthan; Mrs. Singh has been elected to the Assembly for the nine times (1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1985, 1990, 1998, 2003) from the Jhunjhunu constituency.

Family life

Sumitra Singh was born in village Kisari in Jhunjhunu district in the family of brother of Shri Ladu Ram Kisari on 3 May, 1930. Ladu Ram Kisari having no son adopted her as daughter and got her educated in Banasthali Vidyapith. She has done M.A. in Hindi Literature.

She was married with Shri Nahar Singh, (Kadwasra gotra) of Patusari village in the district of Jhunjhunu on 2 June, 1952 and is mother of three sons.
