Anda
Anda (अंदा/अण्दा) is gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan. It is branch of Chotiya gotra of Jats. Andaki clan is found in Afghanistan.[1]
Origin of name
- Local tradition tells ...Anda Ram Chotiya was a person who left the Chotiya gotra. So after he left chotiya gotra his family is known by Anda family.
- Anda may get name from person mentioned as Andēzo in Surkh Kotal Inscription of Kanishka.

Mention by Pliny
Pliny[2] mentions Ethiopia.... Beyond these are the Dochi, and then the Gymnetes, who always go naked; and after them the Andetæ, the Mothitæ, the Mesaches, and the Ipsodoræ, who are of a black tint, but stain the body all over with a kind of red earth. On the African side again there are the Medimni, and then a nation of Nomades, who live on the milk of the cynocephalus, and then the Aladi and the Syrbotæ22, which last are said to be eight cubits in height.

History
Surkh Kotal Inscription of Kanishka mentions ..." This stronghold is the 'Kaneṣko' Oanindo sanctuary which the lord king made the namebearer of Kaneṣko. At that time when the stronghold was first completed, then its inner water to drink was missing, therefore the stronghold was without water. And when the water-flow disappeared from the canal, then the gods wished themselves away from the abode. Then they were led to Lrafo, [namely] to Andēzo. Afterwards the stronghold became abandoned.
