Origin
Jat Gotras Namesake
- Gauri (Jat clan) = Gauri (गौरी) (L.10,V.18). Gauri (गौरी) (L.10,V.18), the goddess, is mentioned in Pujaripali Stone Inscription of Gopaladeva...... (V.18) - (The goddess) Sarasvatī, (who is called) Gauri (गौरी) (L.10) (and) (who is) success, fame and unbaffled intelligence, was propitiated by Gôpâla day by day with his great devotion. [4] Pujaripali (पुजारीपली) is village in Sarangarh tahsil in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh.
- Gauri (Jat clan) = Gauri (गौरी) (L.16). [Gauri]] (गौरी) (L.16) village is mentioned in Paragaon Plates Of Prithvideva II : (Kalachuri) Year 897 (=1146 AD). ....The donee was the Bràhmana Padmanâbha, the son of Harisharman and grandson of Sahadëva who had emigrated from the village Gauri (गौरी) (L.16). ...The village Gauri (गौरी) (L.16), from which the donee's grandfather had emigrated, may be Gora, 18 miles almost due south of Paragaon. [5]...Paragaon is a village in tahsil and district Baloda Bazar in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
- Gauri (Jat clan) (गौरी) → Shrigauri-gadha (श्रीगौरी-गढ़). Shrigauri-gadha (श्रीगौरी-गढ़) is the origin of the name Singoragadha. (112) Tharraka Sati Inscriptions of 1513 AD[6] contains five Sati pillars reoffering to the Gond regime. One is dated in samvat 1570 (1513 AD) during the reign of Amhandasadeva (आम्हणदासदेव) surname Sangram Sahi (संग्राम साही), the greatest king of the Gond dynasty. It mentions Tharraka (ठर्रका) as included in Shrigadha Gauri Vishaye Durge (श्रीगढ़ गौरी विषये दुर्गे), which furnishes a clue to the real derivation of Singoragadha fort from Shrigauri-gadha (श्रीगौरी-गढ़), fancifully derived by Cunningham from Gajasimha Durga, a name which appears to have been imposed by a Parihara Raja Gajasmha, but the old name asserted itself when the Parihara rule vanished. We know that Gauri (गौरी) is a gotra of Jats[7], name of Parvati, name of a River in Mahabharata. Gauri (गौरी) is mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi.
