Mān

Mān or Maan (मान) is a village in tehsil Igalās of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. It is a well connected village. There are two big temples in the village.

Founder

Village was foundedby Man Singh of Hindol Jat Gotra.

Jat Gotras

Hindol - Mān is a village of Hindol gotra Jats.

The village has a population of about 1000 people with about 250 families. Majority is of Jats in the village of Hindol gotra. There are 2 brahman, 3 Muslim, 2 Nai families also.

Most of the people in village are of ‘Sādons’, who are engaged in the work of dispossessing evil spirits. On every full moon there is established a chauki and people come from far off villages to get rid of evil spirits. It is said that this chauki ranks third in India. About three centuries back one saint named Sūrā Sāi performed penance for six days and was blessed with this super natural power. The present chauki is built at that site. Saint Sūrā was a Jāt of Sāi clan.

History

The local tradition tells that prior to the rule of Maharaja Suraj Mal in this area, the then Rajput Raja of Jaipur pressurized the Jats to have marital relations with Muslims. Jats opposed it but could do nothing to force the Jaipur Raja. So they left this ancestral land and moved to Hindaun area in Jaipur district. The Hindaul gotra of Jats is still found in Hindaun tehsil, which got its name after the Hindaul gotra of Jats.

Later Maharaja Suraj Mal offered the jagir of nearby village Sāthanī to one warrior Vāhan Singh Hindaul. He had four sons namely, Mān Singh, Chūraman, Vijayram and Jivarām. Mān Singh founded village Mān, Chūraman founded village Chūharā, Vijayram founded village Pithair and Jivarām founded village Diswār. Man Singh had four sons namely, Bakshi Singh, Chandan Singh, Umraj Singh and Balwant Singh.

जगरोटी की खाप

हिंडोन करौली जिले में है। जगरोटी शब्द जटरोति शब्द का ही बिगड़ा रूप है। आज भी यहाँ पर कई गाँव के नाम के पीछे जट शब्द का उपयोग हुआ है। जैसे कलवारी जट, जटवारा ,बर्रा जट ,वाई जट , जट्स्थाना, और भी कई गाँव है। इस खाप में जाटों के 84 से अधिक गाँव है हिंडौल गोत्र के जाटो ने हिंडोन को बसाया था महाराजा सूरजमल ने वहान सिंह हिंडौल को कोसी अलीगढ में जागीर दे दी थी।

आज अलीगढ जिले में हिंडोल गोत्र के 22 गाँव है जिनमें से कुछ के नाम दिसवारा , रनसुरा हैं। वहान सिंह के चार बेटे थे उनके चार बेटों के नाम मानसिंह, विजयराम, जीवर राम, चुरामन था । मानसिंह ने मान गाँव, चुरामन ने चुहरा गाँव , विजयराम ने पिठैर गाँव व जीवरराम ने दिसवार गाँव बसाया जो अलीगढ़ जिले में है। इस तरह हिंडोल गोत्र राजस्थान छोड़ कर उत्तर प्रदेश में चला गया और हिंडोन की जागीरी बेनीवाल जाटों के पास आगयी।

कुछ सालों के बाद बेनीवालों के सरदार के केवल एक लड़की हुई। पंडित को एक अच्छा रिश्ता लाने को कहा। पंडित जी ने बताया कि एक डागर जाटों का काफिला पास ही में रुका हुआ है। उनमे एक सुन्दर लड़का है। लड़का सरदार को पसंद आ गया और उस बेनीवाल सरदार की लड़की की शादी डागुर लड़के से हो गयी | धीरे धीरे बेनीवाल जाट कोसी के इलाके में चले गये और डागुर जाट जांगल प्रदेश से आकर बसते गये बेनीवालों का दामाद होने के कारण जागीरी डागर जाटों को मिल गयी डागर जाट जांगल प्रदेश से आये थे कुछ समय बाद और डागर गोत्र के काफिले हिंडोन एरिया में बस गये और बेनीवाल गोत्र कोशी की तरफ चले गये जहा आज भी बेनीवालों के गाँव है। उन में ही लक्ष्मी नारायण चौधरी का जन्म हुआ है जो उत्तर प्रदेश में मिनिस्टर रहे हैं।

डागुर जाटों की जनसंख्या बढ गयी। यहाँ पर डागर को डागुर बोला जाता है आज डागुर जाटों के 24 गाँव है, बेनीवाल जाटों के 8 गाँव, हंस गोत्र के 3 गाँव, तंवर (तोमर ) गोत्र के 6 गाँव है। सोलंकी गोत्र के 10 गाँव हैं। सबसे बड़ा गाँव भी सोलंकी जाटो का है। देशवालों के 2 गाँव , इन्दोलिया , भाकर, बसरे , अकोदिया , जखौदिया (तंवर ), नशवारिया, और भी कई गोत्र है। खाप में करौली जिले के कुछ गाँव तथा दौसा, सवाईमाधोपुर जिलों के कुछ गाँव आते है। खाप के गाँव में शादी के अवसर पर बैंड बजाने की पाबन्दी है।

Viri Singh Hindol - In the fourth generation of Bakshi Singh was born Viri Singh, who was a strong man and got closed the kattikhānā situated near the village in Jawahargaon on his own. He went alone with the sword in kattikhānā and hacked many kasāis there and handed over rest to the police. Viri Singh was the companion of revolutionary freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Ajad. Viri Singh used to supply weapons to him. Viri Singh’s father had been the sarpanch of the village for 23 years and the Pradhan also. There is a dharmsala in his name in Iglas.

History of Hindol gotra

Hindols migrated from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh during the rule of Maharaja Suraj Mal. There are 22 villages of Hindol gotra. These are Moja Sāthanī, Mān, Chuhara, Diswar, Ransura, Jogpur, Konga, Bhagu, Pithair, Loriya etc.
