Malana

Malana (मालाना)[1] Malaana (मलाना)[2] is a Muslim Jat clan found in Pakistan. Malana clan is found in Afghanistan. Same as Malani Chohan. [3]
In Mahabharata
Sabha Parva, Mahabharata/Book II Chapter 27 mentions clans subjugated by Bhima, which include Mallana in shloka 3:
- ततॊ गॊपाल कच्छं च सॊत्तमान अपि चॊत्तरान
- मल्लानाम अधिपं चैव पार्दिवं वयजयत परभुः (II.27.3)
History
H.A. Rose [4] writes:
In Gujrat the Muhammadan Jat tribes claim very diverse origins. Thus Mughal origin is claimed by the Bhaddar, Malana, Marar and Narwai, who claim to be Barlas ; and by the Bahlam, Chaughatta, Phiphra, Mander and Babal, who claim to be Chaughatta.
