Wassan
Wassan (Sindhi: وسّان , Hindi:वस्सान) Wasan/Vasan (वसान) Bisain (बिसैन) Basain (बसैन) Wusun (वू-सुन) is Jat Gotra found in Sindh province of Pakistan. [1]
Origin
- Vasana (वसन) Mahabharata (I.28.18), (I.31.14), (IX.44.84) may be the origin.
- Probably the clan originated from Wusun (वू-सुन), a branch of Shakas.[2]

Mention by Pliny
Pliny[3] mentions Arabia....Also, the island of Chelonitis27, numerous islands of Ichthyophagi, the deserts of Odanda, Basa, many islands of the Sabæi, the rivers Thanar and Amnume, the islands of Dorice, and the fountains of Daulotos and Dora.
27 Stephanus mentions this as an island of the Erythræan Sea. Hardly any of these places appear to have been identified; and there is great uncertainty as to the orthography of the names.

History
Hukum Singh Panwar writes that Visanins; of Rigveda (7, 18, 7), and who were the victims of Dasharajana wars, might be among he authors of Harappan culture. They are probably survived now by the Bisain or Basain and Vasan Jats in Panjab and Pakistan. [6]

Vasana (वसन) is mentioned in Mahabharata (I.28.18), (I.31.14), (IX.44.84)
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 31 mentions Names of Chief Nagas. Vasana is mentioned in verse (I.31.14). ...."Virajas, Suvahu, Shalipinda, Prabhakara, Hastibhadra, Pitharaka, Mukhara, Kona, Vasana,..." [7]
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 28 mentions Wasana (वसना) in verse (I.28.19)....And Garuda had encounters with the Yakshas, Aswakranda of great courage, Rainuka, the bold Krathanaka, Tapana, Uluka, Wasana, Nimesha, Praruja, and Pulina." [8]
Shalya Parva, Mahabharata/Book IX Chapter 44 mentions the ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo (सेनागणाध्यक्ष), the diverse gods, various clans who joined it. Vasana is in verse (IX.44.84). [9]

Khairpur district in the Sindh province of Pakistan has population of Wassan tribe.
