Manju (मांजू) Maju (माजु)[1] Manzu, Mozu is gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. It is a branch of Johiya.
Origin
- Manaji, according to the bard, was one of 12 sons of Raja Shiv Singh Johiya (959 AD) of Kot Malot (Malout) in Muktsar, Punjab. He is said to have given fame to Manjhu, Sihol and Loonka Clan of Jats.[2]
- The people from place called Manjh (मांझ) were known as Manju. [3] Majha is the region in Punjab comprising of Amritsar and Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran districts.

Manju is one of six Mede Manda tribes described by Herodotus as Buddi. Herodotus, i. 101, lists the names of six Mede (Manda) tribes: Thus Deioces collected the Medes (Manda) into a nation, and ruled over them alone. Now these are the tribes of which they consist: the Busae, the Paretaceni, the Struchates, the Arizanti ( Aryan Jats), the Budii (Budhwar), and the Magi (Manju). [4]
