History

Megasthenes writes them as Samarabriae - If we cross to the other side of the Indus and follow its course downward we meet the Sambruceni (Samota) along with Bisambritae, Osii (Asii), Antixeni (Antal), and the Taxillae (Taxak) with a famous city (See - Jat clans as described by Megasthenes).

Thakur Deshraj writes that writes that Samota along with their companions Gadar Jats (Gedrosi of Megasthenes) lived between Sindh and Punjab and they moved to Rajasthan now live in Khandelawati and Jhunjhunwati. [5]
