Guru
Guru (गुरु)[1][2] [3] Gurun (गुरुं) Gur (गुर)[4] [5][6] is Gotra of Jats in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. [7] Gurun (गुरुं) is a Hindu Jat clan found in Montgomery, Pakistan. [8]
Origin
This gotra originated from people of fair colour. Guru is also name of shresha (श्रेष्ठ) or superior people. Descendants of such people got the gotra name Guru. [9]
History
Bhim Singh Dahiya identifies Goruai of Greek with Guru/Gaur/Ghor of Indian clan.[10]
It is mentioned by James Tod[11]: Guru — West side of the Luni ; town of seven hundred houses ; the chief is styled Rana, and of the Chauhan tribe.
