Samin
Samin (सामिन) or Saman (सामन)[1] is a gotra of Jats. Samin clan is found in Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan.

- Saman = Samnæi (Pliny.vi.32).
- Saman (सामन) (Jat clan) → Samnapur (समनापुर). Samnapur (समनापुर) is a village in Balaghat tahsil in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. It is mentioned as Sundhati (सुन्धाति) in Patna Museum Plates of Pravarasena II (Found at Balaghat)[2]
Mention by Pliny
Pliny [3] mentions Arabia.........the Ilisanitæ, the Bachilitæ, the Samnæi, the Amitei, with the towns of Nessa55 and Cennesseris, the Zamareni, with the towns of Sagiatta and Canthace, the Bacascami, the town of Riphearma, the name by which they call barley, the Autei, the Ethravi, the Cyrei and the Mathatræi, the Helmodenes, with the town of Ebode, the Agacturi, dwelling in the mountains, with a town twenty miles distant, in which is a fountain called Ænuscabales56, which signifies "the town of the camels."
55 Agatharchides speaks of a town on the sea coast, which was so called from the multitude of ducks found there. The one here spoken of was in the interior, and cannot be the same.
56 Hardouin observes, that neither this word, nor the name Riphearma, above mentioned, has either a Hebrew or an Arabian origin.

History
Sub divisions of Chauhan
Bhim Singh Dahiya[5] provides us list of Jat clans who were supporters of the Chauhan when they gained political ascendancy. The Samin clan supported the ascendant clan Chauhan and become part of a political confederacy.[6]
H. W. Bellew [7] writes that The Dreshak Baloch, a very ancient tribe in these parts, inhabit Rajanpur division of Dera Ghazi Khan , and comprise sections which include — Samin.
