Nain

Nain (नैन) Nayan (नयन) Nen (नेण) is gotra of Jats found in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh in India and in Pakistan.

History

We find mention of this clan in Iran in ancient times. Lake Urmia (Persian: دریاچه ارومیه) is a salt lake in northwestern Iran between the provinces of East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan, west of the southern portion of the similarly shaped Caspian Sea. Lake Urmia has 102 islands. Nahan is one of the islands.It indicates the population of Nain people inhabiting this island.

Bhim Singh Dahiya has identified that Central Asian Name - Noyan is the same as the existing Indian Jat clan 'Nayan'/Nain.

ठाकुर देशराज के अनुसार 'नेन' शाखा अनंगपाल तोमर के एक वंशज नैनसी के नाम पर चली. कालांतर में ये लोग डूंगरगढ़ तथा रतनगढ़ तहसील में आकर आबाद हुए. इनमें श्रीपाल नामक व्यक्ति का जन्म संवत 1398 (1341) में हुआ, जिनके 12 लड़के हुए, जिनमें राजू ने लद्धोसर, दूला ने बछरारा , कालू ने मालपुर, हुक्मा ने केऊ, लल्ला ने बीन्झासर और चुहड़ ने चुरू आबाद किया. नैन गोत्र जाट यहाँ के प्राचीन निवासी हैं.

जाट इतिहासकार भले राम बेनीवाल ने अपनी पुस्तक 'जाट योद्धाओं का इतिहास' में इस गोत्र का विस्तार से वर्णन किया है. उनके अनुसार यह चंद्रवंशी गोत्र है. यह जाटों के प्राचीनतम गोत्रों में से एक है. भले राम जी, ठाकुर देशराज के तंवर गोत्र से उत्पति के प्रमाण से सहमत नहीं हैं. नैन गोत्र इससे पहले भी अस्तित्व में था. राजस्थान में भिरणी गाँव जिला हनुमानगढ़ और बालेवास जिला हनुमानगढ़, राजस्थान में प्रचलित कहानी सच प्रतीत होती है. शमशेर सिंह पुत्र बलदेव सिंह अपनी ३३ पीढियों का खुलासा करते हैं जो सभी राजा अनंगपाल तोमर से जाकर मिलती हैं. राजा अनंगपाल के कोई लड़का नहीं था. जिस समय उनकी आयु ९० वर्ष थी उस समय ईरान देश के निष्कासित राजा क़यामत खां अपनी बेगम व जवान पुत्री शाहबानो के साथ अनंगपाल के दरबार में आया, वह जाट कौम का था और उसके परिवार ने ८ वीं सदी में इस्लाम ग्रहण किया था. क़यामत खां की जवान बेटी को हिन्दू बनाकर उसका नाम बदल कर सुमन देवी रखा और उससे शादी की थी तब उससे एक लड़का पैदा हुआ था. राजा के कुल पुरोहितों ने राजा को सलाह दी कि यह बच्चा राज्य के लिए अहितकर है. इस कारण राजा ने आया को हुक्म दिया कि उस बालक की हत्या कर दे लेकिन उस आया के मन में रहम आ गया तथा उस अबोध बालक को 'गौर' (गोबर आदि फैंकने का स्थान) में फेंक दिया. जब एक कुम्हार व कुम्हारी गौर में पहुंचे तो उन्होंने उस बालक को उठा लिया तथा गौर में मिलने के कारण इनका नाम गौर सिंह रखा जो बाद में मोहम्मद गौरी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ. वह दिल्लीके राजा अनंगपाल क इकलोता पुत्र था तथा उसका गोत्र नैन था. इस गोत्र के बारे में जो वंशावली जाट इतिहास एवं समकालीन सन्दर्भ के लेखक प्रताप सिंह शास्त्री ने दी है वह शमशेर सिंह गाँव धमतान साहब जिला जींद, हरियाणा द्वारा दी गयी से मेल खाती है.

आज नैनों के ५२ गाँव नरवाना क्षेत्र, पूरे हरयाणा, राजस्थान तथा उत्तर प्रदेश में पाए जाते हैं. राजा आनंदपाल के दो लड़के थे. बड़े का नाम अनंगपाल तथा छोटे का नाम नैनपाल था. बड़ा बेटा होने के कारण अनंगपाल को दिल्ली की गद्दी मिली थी. छोटा बेटा नैनपाल राजकाज के अन्य काम देखता था. वह बड़ा सीधासादा तथा शील स्वभाव का था. कुछ लोगों का मानना है कि नैनपाल से नैन गोत्र शुरू हुआ.

नैन अत्यंत प्राचीन गोत्र है. कई शताब्दी ईशा पूर्व जाटों के छः वंश शिवी, सुरावी, किम्ब्री, हेमेंद्री, कलि व बैन हरिवर्ष (यूरोप) गए थे उनमें नैन भी थे. हेमेंद्री गोत्र की ही एक शाखा नैन थे. नैन ही डेनमार्क व इंग्लैंड में नॉर्मन, नरगर कहलाये. ३२६ ई.पू. सिकंदर के भारत आक्रमण के समय उनके साथ उनकी प्रेमिका/पत्नी महारानी ताया भी थी. सिकंदर ने पोरस के साथ हुए समझोते को तोड़ा और पोरस को विध्वंश कर जाट युवतियों को बंदी बनाया तो सिकंदर को सबक सिखाने तक्षिला विश्वविद्यालय के चार स्नातकों ने सिकंदर की महारानी ताया का अपहरण किया था. इनमें देवका नैन भी एक था.
