They originated from The Mahabharata Tribe - Pattachchara (पटच्चर).
Jat Gotras Namesake
- Pachar (Jat clan) → Pajani → Pachari a village in tahsil Nawagarh of Janjgir-Champa district in Chhattisgarh. Pajani (पजनी) is mentioned in Sheorinarayan Stone Inscription Of Jajalladeva II Chedi Year 919. ...A queen named Râmbhallà excavated a beautiful tank and grew a mango-grove in the village Pajani (पजनी). Pajani (पजनी) may be Pachari (पाचरी), 6 miles east of Sheorinarayan.[4]
History
The Mahabharata Tribe - Pattachchara (पटच्चर) is mentioned in Virata Parva (IV.1.9) [5]
They are also mentioned in Mahabharata Sabha Parva as a tribe of the south-west, defeated by Sahdeva (II.28.4); they joined Yudhisthira's army (VI.46.47). The Sabha Parva (II.13.25) lists them with the Yadava and Bhoja tribes who fled westwards for fear of Jarasandha. [6] Pattachchara (पटच्चर) is mentioned in Mahabharata Bhishma Parva (VI.46.47) [7] The Mahabharata Tribe - Pattachchara (पटच्चर) may be identified with Jat Gotra - Pachar (पचार)
Panwar is the degenerated form of Pachar or Pachehra. Their origin was at Dharanagari. Sujan Singh was their chieftain. Sujan Singh won the places Udiya, Amber, Ujjain, Averi, Abugarh and Sanganeri, which were in the territory of Rajarao. He defeated the five states so they were called Pachehra. Sujan Singh progressed further and also won Hindon, Bayana and Gwalior forts. Sujan Singh established villages Dhahrooa, Kanarai. He also defeated Kalars who had great nuisance and had dominance in Brij area. [8]
The Kannauja descendant had five sons namely Vijay Singh, Pratap Singh, Roop Singh, Dalo Singh and Bhabal Singh along with two daughters Darbo and Jasso. They constructed a Mata temple at Aayara Kheda village. 360 villages of Panwar Jats have spread from Aayara Kheda. These villages are located in the lower bank of Yamuna River. The rest of villages were established beyond Ganga River. The chieftain Sujan Singh visited the Ashram of Nimbaditya Rishi. This place was full of Neem and other trees; He established this place as Nimgaon after Nimbaditya Rishi. [9]
