Bana (बाना) / (बाणा)^[1] ^[2] is a Gotra of Jats found mainly in Rajasthan^[3] and Uttar Pradesh in India.

Origin

Bana is a rigvedic ruling clan. The word Bāṇeya is used for the adherents of Banasura (बाणासुर). ^[4]. The present Bana clan may be identified with them. ^[5]

Jat Gotras Namesake

Bana (Jat clan) = Banari. Banari is a village in tahsil Janjgir of Janjgir-Champa district in Chhattisgarh. Vanari (वणारी) is mentioned in Sheorinarayan Stone Inscription Of Jajalladeva II Chedi Year 919. Vanari (वणारी) is the modern Banari (बनारी) near Janjgir. (p.521). ^[6]

Bana (Jat clan) = Banafar = Vanaspara (वनस्पर). Vanaspara (ruled c. 130 CE) was an Indo-Scythian Northern Satrap (kshtrapa).

History

Dr Pema Ram writes that after the invasion of Alexander in 326 BC, the Jats of Sindh and Punjab migrated to Rajasthan. They built tanks, wells and Bawadis near their habitations. The tribes migrated were: Shivis, Yaudheyas, Malavas, Madras etc. The Shivi tribe which came from Ravi and Beas Rivers founded towns like Sheo, Sojat, Siwana, Shergarh, Shivganj etc. This area was adjoining to Sindh and mainly inhabited by Jats. The descendants of Madras in Rajasthan are: Jinja, Bana, Thoria, Lagman, Kamodia, Madal, Devsalya, Junawa, Maderna, Judi, Madrewa, Khokh, Asihag etc. ^[7]

According to Bhim Singh Dahiya^[8]Aila (Ailavats of today) and Bana are also mentioned as protectors of the gates (dvaars).

Bhadana (भदाणा) Village gets name after Nagavanshi word Bana (बाना).^[9]

Banatirtha

Banatirtha (बाणतीर्थ): Sage Sankha explained at this juncture the story of Banatirtha to king Virasena. When Siva burnt down Tripuras, he had used Earth as chariot, Brahma as charioteer, Meru mountain as bow and Vishnu as arrow. The arrow destroyed the three Asuras and their mobile forts; but the wrath in the arrow did not get extinguished. Hence Siva buried the arrow in a pit in Malayaparvatha. Vishnu resided there as arrow for ten thousand years, heating up the land massively. When the waters of Tamraparni dropped into the pit, there was heavy mist going up owing to the pent up heat; it looked like the hiss of Nagaraja of Patala. As the heat spread in all directions, Devas, Siddhas and others in aerial route started crying in agony.^[10]

Tamraparni (ताम्रपर्णी) is an ancient name of a river proximal to Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

There is a cave above the Bana Tirtha near Papanasam, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu.^[11]

Rulers of Dakshina Kosala

Bana (Jat clan) = Bana King Vikramaditya I son of Malladeva constructed the sanctum of the temple at Pali in Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh. Pali Stone Inscriptions Of Jajalladeva I shows that he was ruling in Dakshina Kosala or Chhattisgarh before the advent of the Kalachuris. ^[12]

पाली (AS, p.554): जिला बिलासपुर मध्य प्रदेश में रतनपुर के निकट एक ग्राम जहां मध्य प्रदेश का एक अति प्राचीन शिव मंदिर स्थित है. इसका निर्माण वाणवंशीय राजा विक्रमादित्य ने 870-895 ई. में करवाया था. कलचुरी नरेश जाजल्ल देव (1095-1120) ने इस मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाया था. इस तथ्य का 'जाजल्लदेवस्यकीर्तिरियम्' वाक्य द्वारा किया गया है. मंदिर की शिल्पकारी सूक्ष्म तथा सुंदर है और आबू के जैन मंदिरों की कला की याद दिलाती है.^[13]

जाटों का विदेशों में जाना

ठाकुर देशराज^[14] ने लिखा है .... उत्तरोत्तर संख्या वृद्धि के साथ ही वंश (कुल) वृद्धि भी होती गई और प्राचीन जातियां मे से एक-एक के सैंकड़ों वंश हो गए। साम्राज्य की लपेट से बचने के लिए कृष्ण ने इनके सामने भी यही प्रस्ताव रखा कि कुल राज्यों की बजाए ज्ञाति राज्य कायम का डालो। ....द्वारिका के जाट-राष्ट्र पर हम दो विपत्तियों का आक्रमण एक साथ देख कर प्रभास क्षेत्र में यादवों का आपसी महायुद्ध और द्वारिका का जल में डूब जाना। अतः स्वभावतः शेष बचे जाटों को दूसरी जगह तलाश करने के लिए बढ़ना पड़ा। .... बाना लोगों ने ईरान के देश में जाकर बस्ती आबाद की जहां उनके नाम पर ही उस नदी का नाम मशहूर हो गया जिसके कि किनारे वे जाकर बसे थे। भारत में बाणगंगा के किनारे से उठकर गए थे जहां पर कि आजकल बयाना आबाद है। उषा इन्हीं लोगों की पुत्री थी। कृष्ण से लड़ने के कारण भक्त लोगों ने बाना लोगों के सरदार को बाणासुर कहा है किंतु बात ऐसी नहीं है। कंस, बाना, दंतवक्र यह सब चंद्रवंशी थे असुर नहीं थे। कुछ लोग मानते हैं कि स्कैंडेनेविया को बाना के लड़के स्कंद ने आबाद किया था।

बाना जाटवंश

दलीप सिंह अहलावत^[15] के अनुसार बाना चन्द्रवंशी जाटवंश सुप्रसिद्ध नरेश बाणासुर के नाम से प्रचलित हुआ। बयाना, जो जिला भरतपुर में है, इस वंश के क्षत्रियों की राजधानी थी। यहां की राजकुमारी उषा का विवाह श्रीकृष्ण जी के पौत्र तथा प्रद्युम्न के पुत्र अनिरुद्ध से हुआ था। उषा का स्मृति मन्दिर बयाना में आज भी विद्यमान है। बाद में इस नगर पर वरिक² (जाटवंश) और फिर सिनसिनवारों (जाटों) का आधिपत्य स्थिर हुआ।

बाना जाटों का राज्य भारतवर्ष की पश्चिमी सीमा पर भी रहा है। जाट्स दी ऐनशन्ट् रूलर्ज पृ० 224 पर बी० एस० दहिया ने लिखा है कि “अहलावत व बाना जाट भारतीय सीमा पर शत्रु को रोकने वाले द्वारपाल थे।” (हवाला अलबुरुनीज् इण्डिया बाई सचाऊ पृ० 193)।

यह बाना वंश शुद्ध वैदिकधर्मी रहा। सिक्खों और मुसलमानों में इनकी सत्ता नहीं है। अजमेर के समीप व्यावर में, जिला बीकानेर में भदानार, कड़ियार, खाण्डा, जिला मेरठ में गिरधरपुर, चित्तौली, चंदौड़ी आदि गांव बाना जाटों के हैं।

बाना लोग बानगंगा (बयाना क्षेत्र) के किनारे से उठकर ईरान देश में गये। वहां जाकर बस्ती आबाद की जहां उनके नाम पर वहां की नदी का नाम बाना नदी पड़ गया³।

जाटों का सिंध से आगमन

डॉ पेमाराम^[16]लिखते हैं कि सिंध और पंजाब से समय-समय पर ज्यों-ज्यों जाट राजस्थान में आते गये, मरूस्थलीय प्रदेशों में बसने के साथ ही उन्होने प्रजातन्त्रीय तरीके से अपने छोटे-छोटे गणराज्य बना लिये थे जो अपनी सुरक्षा की व्यवस्था स्वयं करते थे तथा मिल-बैठकर अपने आपसी विवाद सुलझा लेते थे । ऐसे गणराज्य तीसरी सदी से लेकर सोलहवीं सदी तक चलते रहे । जैसे ईसा की तीसरी शताब्दी तक यौधेयों का जांगल प्रदेश पर अधिकार था । उसके बाद नागों ने उन्हें हरा कर जांगल प्रदेश (वर्तमान बिकानेर एवं नागौर जिला) पर अधिकार कर लिया । यौधेयों को हराने वाले पद्मावती के भारशिव नाग थे, जिन्होने चौथी शताब्दी से लेकर छठी शताब्दी तक बिकानेर, नागौर, जोधपुर तथा जालोर के जसवन्तपुरा तक शासन किया । जांगल प्रदेश में नागों के अधीन जो क्षेत्र था, उसकी राजधानी अहिच्छत्रपुर (नागौर) थी । यही वजह है कि नागौर के आस-पास चारों ओर अनेक नागवंशी मिसलों के नाम पर अनेक गांव बसे हुये हैं जैसे काला मिसल के नाम पर काल्यास, फ़िरड़ोदा का फिड़ोद, इनाणियां का इनाणा, भाकल का भाखरोद, बानों का भदाणा, भरणा का भरणगांव / भरनांवा / भरनाई, गोरा का डेह तथा धोला का खड़नाल आदि ।

छठी शताब्दी बाद नागौर पर दौसौ साल तक गूजरों ने राज किया परन्तु आठवीं शताब्दी बाद पुनः काला नागों ने गूजरों को हराकर अपना आधिपत्य कायम किया ।

दसवीं सदी के अन्त में प्रतिहारों ने नागों से नागौर छीन लिया । इस समय प्रतिहारों ने काला नागों का पूर्णतया सफ़ाया कर दिया । थोड़े से नाग बचे वे बलाया गांव में बसे और फिर वहां से अन्यत्र गये ।

बाना परिवार स्नेह मिलन और प्रतिभा सम्मान समारोह 2017 क्यों और कैसे रखा गया ?

गौपुत्र अजय बाना के मुताबिक 25 सितंबर 2013 को उनके मन में विचार आया के क्यों ना अपने परिवार के बारे में जाना जाए के कौन-2 कहां-2 रह रहा है । इसी मंशा से फेसबुक पर एक ग्रुप बनाया बाना (जाट) परिवार और बाना गोत्र के सभी को फेसबुक पर ढूंढना शुरु किया तो काफी संख्या में बाना भाइयों को ग्रुप में ऐड कर लिया और प्रदीप जी बाना बकरियाँवाली का बहुत सहयोग मिला इस कार्य हेतु । फिर एक मंशा और जागृत हो गई, कि क्यों ना सब भाइयों से दूरभाष नम्बर लिये जांए और सम्पर्क साधा जाए तो इसी मंशा से बाना (जाट) परिवार फेसबुक के ग्रुप में गौपुत्र अजय बाना ने एक पोस्ट डाली के सभी भाई अपने-2 दूरभाष (मोबाइल)नम्बर कॉमेंट बाक्स में लिखे । तो उसमें बहुत भारी संख्या में भाइयों के कॉमेंट आए और कुछ कड़वी बातें भी सुनने को मिली लेकिन परिवार में ये सब चलता है फिर 15/11/2013 को गौपुत्र अजय बाना द्वारा वॉटस एप ग्रुप बनाया गया जनवरी 2017 तक ये ग्रुप युं ही आम ग्रुपों की तरह ही चलता रहा । फिर इस ग्रुप में शुरूआती चार मैम्बर सक्रिय हुए जिसमें 1 चौधरी मोहन लाल बाना बाला राजपुरा, 2 प्रदीप बाना बकरियांवाली, 3 राजेन्द्र बाना गुलाबगढ, 4 गौपुत्र अजय बाना सभी ने विचार विमर्श करना शुरू किया के क्यों न परिवार मिलन समारोह किया जाए तो जब सबसे सहमति मांगी गई तो सब बहुत ही खुश हुए और सबकी सहमति से 16-17 दिसंबर 2017 की तारीख तय कर ली गई के बीकानेर मिलेंगे । लेकिन समस्या ये रही के कहां फिर हमने डुंगरगढ तहसील जिला बीकानेर के गांव बाना में सम्पर्क किया जिसमें बाना गोत्र के ही परिवार ज्यादा है । वहां पर पहला सम्पर्क बाबू लाल बाना से हुआ और तब सब परिवार की तरफ से राजेन्द्र बाना और अजय बाना को बाना गांव भेजने का फैसला हुआ और जब बाना गांव पंहुचे तो बुजुर्गों के आशीर्वाद से युवाओं का भरपूर साथ मिला । वहां जाकर सभी समस्यायें खत्म हो गई क्योंकि बाना गांव की तरफ से खाने कि पुरी जिमेदारी ले ली गई के परिवार को खाना बाना गांव देगा और जाट धर्मशाला बुक करवाने की जिमेदारी भी गांव के बुजुर्गों के आशीर्वाद से युवाओं ने ले ली वहां बी आर सी ग्रुप के chairperson शिवलाल बाना व अधिवक्ता राजाराम बाना हेमेन्द्र बाना और बाना गांव के युवाओं का भरपूर सहयोग मिला ! उस समय बाड़मेर जौधपुर औशियां जयपुर उतर प्रदेश मध्य प्रदेश व हरियाणा से काफी संख्या में बाना परिवार के अग्रणी सदस्य शामिल हुए 16-17 दिसंबर 2017 बाना परिवार के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक दिन बना ।
