Bhakar (भाकर) [1] Bhakkar (भाकर) Bhaskar (भास्कर) Bhaskara (भास्कर)[2] Bhakhar (भाखर)[3] [4] Bhankhar (भांखर) Bhankal (भांकल)/Bhakaria (भाकरिया)[5] is gotra of Jats found in Rajasthan,[6] Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. They were supporters of Chauhan Confederacy.
Origin
- It may have originated from janapada Apakara (अपकर) mentioned in Ashtadhyayi of Panini which has been Identified with Bhakkar in Pakistan.
- Bhakar Gotra is said to have originated from Nagavanshi ruler Prabhakara (प्रभाकर). [7]

V. S. Agrawala[8] writes that Ashtadhyayi of Panini mentions janapada Apakara (अपकर) - Identified with Bhakkar in Mianwali district.
Bhakar Gotra originated from Nagavanshi ruler Prabhakara (प्रभाकर) . They have originated from place called Bhasiana. [9] The district Bhakar Darya Khan city is in Pakistan where many Mahotas families live in.

भाखर गोत्र के बसाये हुये प्रमुख गाँव[12]:
नागवंशी शासक प्रभाकर से इस गोत्र का प्रारंभ माना जाता है। पाणिनि की अष्टाध्यायी में वर्णित जनपद अपकर का संबंध पाकिस्तान के पंजाब प्रांत के भक्खर इलाके से किया जाता है। आज भी भाकर भारत के साथ-साथ पाकिस्तान में भी बसे हुए हैं। भारत में यह गोत्र पंजाब, मध्य प्रदेश, हरियाणा, राजस्थान में मुख्यतः आबाद हैं। हरियाणा तो भाकर गोत्र का गढ़ है। [13]

नोट.2 -शेखा के पुत्र ठाकुरसी व ठाकुरसी के पुत्र पन्ना से रुल्याणा माली के डूँगा माली की बेटी व पीथा माली की पौत्री ज्ञानी परणाई जिसके आगे चलकर चार बेटे (रतना,लादू, लच्छा, तिलोका) व बेटी रमा हुये। चार बेटों में से केवल रतना का वंश चला जिसके दो बेटे (दुला और गौरू) व पाँच बेटियाँ (जिनकू, पेमा, धापू, नैनी व बरगु) हुई। इस गाँव में रतना के बेटे दुला भाखर का वंश चला आ रहा है।[17]
In Mahabharata
Mahabharata mentions Parabhakara (परभाकर) in vers (I.35.15), Bhaskara in verse (XIV.8.15). Prabhakara (प्रभाकर) as a Nagavanshi King is mentioned in verse (I.31.15).
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 31 mentions Names of Chief Nagas. Prabhakara (प्रभा कर) is included in verse (I.31.15). [18]
Aswamedha Parva, Mahabharata/Book 14 Chapter 8 mentions about Bhaskar as protectors of gold mines of Kuvera on peak named Munjaban on the summits of the Himalaya mountains. [19]

- Hari Bhakar (born:1.10.1998 - died:24.3.2019) from village Joosri, Makarana, Nagaur, Rajasthan became martyr on 24.3.2019. The 21-year-old martyr Grenadier Hari Bhakar was killed in a ceasefire violation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani troops.
- सतपाल सिंह भाकर: अपने पिता के इकलौते लाल सतपाल सिंह भाकर लेह लद्दाख में शहीद दो बेटियों के पिता और दो बहनों के इकलौते भाई हरियाणा के हिसार के अग्रोहा के साधारण किसान परिवार में जन्मे भारतीय सेना के जवान सतपाल भाकर (30) ने भारत मां की रक्षा करते हुए अपने प्राण न्योछावर कर दिए। शहीद के परिजनों ने बताया कि 10 साल पहले सतपाल भाकर भारतीय सेना में भर्ती हुए थे। 3 साल से उसकी पोस्टिंग लेह लद्दाख में थी। जहां भारत मां की रक्षा करते हुए सतपाल ने अपने प्राणों की आहुति दे दी। वह परिवार के इकलौते चिराग थे। सतपाल शादीशुदा थे, उनकी दो बेटियां हैं और दो बहनें भी हैं। सतपाल के शहीद होने की सूचना जैसे ही मिली तो गांव में माहौल गमगीन हो गया। उनके घर पर ढांढस बढ़ाने वालों का तांता लग गया।
