It is a branch of Chauhan. Sheorani clan is found in Afghanistan.

Origin

• Shyauran (श्यौरान) are descendants of Raja Srinjaya (सृञ्जय) of Kuruvansh.

• Shivran have originated from Shivigiri (शिविगिरि).

History

Dr Pema Ram writes that after the invasion of Alexander in 326 BC, the Jats of Sindh and Punjab migrated to Rajasthan. They built tanks, wells and Bawadis near their habitations. The tribes migrated were: Shivis, Yaudheyas, Malavas, Madras etc. The Shivi tribe which came from Ravi and Beas Rivers founded towns like Sheo, Sojat, Siwana, Shergarh, Shivganj etc. This area was adjoining to Sindh and mainly inhabited by Jats. The descendants of Shivi in Rajasthan are: Seu, Shivran, Shivral, Sihot, Sinwar, Chhaba etc.

Alexander Cunningham writes that Opokien (Afghan) is mentioned by Hwen Thsang in a brief paragraph, which places it between Falana (Bannu) and Ghazni, to the north-west of the former, and to the south-east of the latter. From this description it would appear to be the same as the Lo-i of Fa-Hian, and the Roh of the Indian historians. Major Raverty describes Roh as " the mountainous district of Afghanistan and part of Baluchistan," or "the country between Ghazni and Kandahar and the Indus." The people of this province are called Rohilas, or Rohila Afghans, to distinguish them from other Afghans, such as the Ghori Afghans of Ghor between Balkh and Merv. There is, however, a slight chronological difficulty about this identification, as the Afghans of Khilij, Ghor, and Kabul are stated by Ferishta to have subdued the province of Roh so late as A.H. 63, or A.D. 682, that is about thirty years later than the period of Hwen Thsang's visit. But I think that there are good grounds for doubting the accuracy of this statement, as Hwen Thsang describes the language of Falana as having but little resemblance to that of Central India. The inhabitants of Roh could not, therefore, have been Indians; and if not Indians, they must almost certainly have been Afghans. Ferishta begins his account by saying that the Muhammadan Afghans of the mountains "invaded and laid waste the inhabited countries, such as Kirman, Shivaran, and Peshawar;" and that several battles took place between the Indians and Afghans " on a plain between Kirman and Peshawar." The Kirman here mentioned is not the great province of Kirman, or Karmania, on the shore of the Indian Ocean, but the Kirman, or Kirmash, of Timur's historians, which is the valley of the Kuram river. Thus Alexander Cunningham locates Shivarans in valley of Kurram River which is located in Paktia and Khost provinces of Afghanistan and Kurram Agency, North Waziristan Agency and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Hukum Singh Panwar (Pauria) writes: The Jat tribes Sivirana or Sivran or Sheoran closely resembles the Rigvedic tribes of Sivas, one of the western frontier tribes who fought against the Bharatas on the Parusni in the Dasarajna battles.

Accor5ding to Bhim Singh Dahiya, Sheoran are the Sura of Indian Literature, and Shor of Present day Central Asia. Mahabharata mentions a Suryasura and obviously not for the sun (Surya) but for the Sura people Darada (the Darar clan people) a king of Bahlika was born from Surya. The Sura Kings came for Yudhisthira’s sacrifice.

Sheoran is a branch of Shivi Jats who ruled in Malwa and Rajasthan. When they moved from Malwa to Rajasthan, one group also moved to Neemrana, where they were found at the time of Emperor Humanyun.

According to the bard of this dynasty king Gaj of Ghazni had two sons named Mangal Rao and Masur Rao. Mangal Rao was the ruler of Lahore and Masur Rao of Sialkot. Foreign invaders drove both of them out of their kingdoms. Masur Rao fled away to the deserts of Rajasthan. He had two sons named Abhai Rao and Saran Rao. Descendants of Abhai Rao came to be called Bhurhya Bhatti and those of Saran Rao, Saran. Mangal Rao had six sons, named Mojam Rao, Gulrish, Moolraj, Sheoraj, Kewl Rao and Phul Rao. Descendants of Gulrish came to be called Gloraya or Kiliraya, those of Moolraj, Munda and those Sheoraj, Sheoran.

The Sheoran gotra is a big gotra having 52 villages in Luharu 25 in tehsil Badhra and teh. Charkhi Dadri and 25 big villages in Jind, known as 8 Khera. Other Villages Jodawali, Kardawan, Munnawali, Kinsrenti, Khunghai.

Sidhanwa village in Tehsil Loharu, District Bhiwani is said to be central place from where they spread to other areas in Haryana. Sidhanwa Village is having both Dhankhar and Sheoran gotra populations and they have brotherhood relations. The village should find a rightful place in the Jat history as it is an originating place for one of the important clan i.e. Sheoran. Legend has it that there were two brothers Sheora and Sumra who were passing by the place where this village is situated now to find some greener pastures due to a severe drought in their village. The wheel of their bull cart got damaged and they had to stop there. Nearby there lived a Saint named Baba Sidh Nath who advised them to settle there and blessed them. Sheorans are now scattered over many villages but the main thrust is in this area in about 52 villages. There is a famous Dera in this village in the name of Baba Sidhnath and a huge Dharamshala has also been built (for the pilgrims from other villages and holding the bigger social congregations and Panchayats) with the donations received from devotees which include local politicians as well. These donations run in lakhs every year.

H W Bellew writes that The Afghans Proper the Bani Israil, as they call themselves in special distinction to all other divisions of the nation class themselves as the descendants of Saraban through his two sons, Sharjyun and Khrishyun.

• From Sharjyun there sprung five clans, the principal of which is called Sheorani,
• From Khrishyun there sprung three clans, namely, Kand, Zamand, and Kansi.
• The Kand was divided into the Khakhi and Ghori, and included the Mandanr and Yusufzai clans. They are all now settled in the Peshawar valley.

Bhim Singh Dahiya provides us list of Jat clans who were supporters of the Chauhan when they gained political ascendancy. The Sheoran clan supported the ascendant clan Chauhan and become part of a political confederacy.

ठाकुर देशराज लिखते हैं कि राज्य जींद में इस वंश के 25 गांव हैं और लुहारू स्टेट के 52 गांव पूरे शिवराण गोत्र जाटों के हैं। हिसार जिलें में भी अनेक गांव है। भाट लोगों ने लिखा है कि शिवराव नामी राजपूत ने जो अब से 24 पीढ़ी पहले हुआ था, जाटनी से शादी कर ली, इसलिए उसकी सन्तान के लोग शिवराण कहे जाते हैं। इससे भी बड़ा गपोड़ा और क्या होगा कि एक ही आदमी के सिर्फ चौबीसवीं पीढ़ी में सैकड़ों गांव बस गए! हमारा मत है जो कि बिलकुल सही है कि शिवराण-जाट शिवि अथवा सिवोई समूह के जत्थे में से हैं, जो कि शिवि गोत्र अथवा शैव्य जाटों के भाई-बन्धु हैं। मालवा से हटकर जिस समय ये लोग राजस्थान में गए, उस समय इनका एक दल नीमराणे के आस-पास भी पहुंच गया और हुमायूं के समय तक उनका छोटा-मोटा राज इस स्थान पर रहा।

There is one village by the name Angadpur in Bagpat district. It is the smallest part of three villages situated next to each other, the other two being Johri and Kheri. It is generally known by village Johri. Angadpur, which appears to be the oldest was established by two brothers Ran Singh and Nayan Singh who migrated from Rajasthan (details not known, but believed to be from Bhiwani (?) district), possibly in mid sixteenth century. Nayan Singh later converted to Islam. Descendants of both the brothers still reside at Angadpur. However there is little or no contact between the two communities. All Sheorans at Angadpur are related to one another and maintain close contact.

श्योराण जाट गोत्र का इतिहास

भलेराम बेनीवाल के अनुसार यह जाटों का प्राचीन गोत्र है. महाभारत में इनका उल्लेख सूर्यासर के रूप में हुआ है. शूर राजा पांडव राजा युधिष्ठिर के यज्ञ में शामिल हुये थे. भारतीय साहित्य में इनका नाम शूरा लिखा है. गुप्त काल में शूर सेन लिखा है. ईरान के रोअन्दिज नामक प्रान्त पर श्योराण जाटों का राज्य था. श्योराण कबीला आज भी वहां पर आबाद है. हुमायुंनामा के अनुसार श्योराण गोत्र के जाटों का मालवा में राज्य था. वहां से किसी कारण राजस्थान के नीमराणा के स्थान पर पहुंचे तथा राज्य स्थापित किया.

इस गोत्र के बारे में कहावत है कि श्योराण जाटों का राजपूतों से झगड़ा होता रहा और ये आगे बढते रहे. इसी प्रकार ये लोग लोहारू क्षेत्र में पड़ने वाले गांव सिधनवा में पहुंचे और वहीं बस गये. यहीं के महाराज ने इनको कुछ एरिया दे दिया. जिसे बाद में इन्होने रियासत के रूप में स्थापित किया, लुहारू व दादरी में अपनी बढोतरी की और धीरे-धीरे लुहारू में ५० गांव व दादरी में २५ गांव में फ़ैल गये. आज श्योराण गोत्र के दादरी में ४७ गांव तथा लुहारू में ७० गांव हैं. सिधनवा व चहड कला इस गोत्र के प्रधान गांव हैं.

श्योराण खाप चौरासी की पंचायत संगठन इस बात का प्रतीक है. इस खाप के फ़ैसलों को राजाओं ने भी माना है. एतिहासिक तथ्यों के आधार पर कहा जा सकता है कि दिल्ली के जाट सम्राट अनंगपाल तोमर की पुत्री रूकमणी के दो पुत्र थे-एक पृथ्वी राज व दूसरा चाहर देव. पृथ्वीराज का दिल्ली पर राज्य रहा. गौरी से परास्त होने के बाद पृथ्वीराज चौहान का वध कर दिया. गौरी ने चाहर देव के लड़के विजयराज को कर के बदले राज्य सौंप दिया. विजयराज के दो पुत्र थे- श्योरा (सोमराव) तथा दूसरा समराव (श्युमरा). इन्होने भी गौरी के साथ लड़ाई में भाग लिया. युद्ध हारने के बाद ये दोनों जंगलों में चले गये और भिवानी के पास सिधनवा गांव में सिद्ध तपस्वी के डेरे पर शरण ली. फ़िर जंगल साफ़ करके वहीं पर श्योराण खाप के वर्तमान गांवों की स्थापना की.

हरफ़ूल जाट जुलाणी वाला इसी गोत्र का है.
